Must the student attend church to be a student at CAI?
Families seeking admission to Christian Academy must have a minister reference and a church affiliation. We feel very strongly that our students be regular attendees at a local church.

Is an entrance test necessary? If so, what does it test?
All students seeking admission must take an admissions test. The Stanford Achievement Test is administered to evaluate students in the areas of reading and math.

What is the average class size?
The average class size in grades K-5 is about 18. Class size in the middle and high school classes varies depending on the class offerings and scheduling. The teacher-student ratio in the middle school and high school is about 17 to 1.

What Curriculum does the school use?
As a state accredited school, the school uses the curriculum guide provided by the state of Indiana. Christian produced textbooks are used when available. Teachers incorporate Christian principles into everyday lessons. Science classes teach creation theory that corresponds to a literal interpretation of the Bible. Evolution theory is also covered as required by the state standards, including the flaws in the theory.

What classes are available for high school students?
Students have a wide variety of offerings in the high school curriculum. More opportunities for advanced studies are added as the school grows. Students can also attend Prosser while completing classes at CAI. Prosser offers a wide variety of classes in various technical fields and trades. Students are also given the opportunity to take course work from Indiana University Southeast, and Ivy Tech where their credits count for both high school and college. Ivy Tech also offers duel credit English classes for our students on the Christian Academy of Indiana Graceland Campus.

What type of credentials and experience do the teachers have?
All teachers are accredited by the state and hold at least a bachelors degree. Over 50% of the teaching staff hold masters degrees. Many teachers have experience in business and industry. The average teaching experience is 13 years. Academically, how do high school students compare? Students at Christian Academy of Indiana score above the state average on SAT scores. Nearly 90% of graduates go on to college and almost 50% of graduates receive academic honors diplomas.

Is tuition assistance available?
Financial assistance is available to qualified families. To apply for financial assistance, the student must be an accepted student - meaning that all paperwork and fees are complete and the Admissions Review Committee has accepted the student for the upcoming year. Decisions on financial assistance are awarded by a third-party company.

When can I apply?
Applications are accepted throughout the year. However, the best time to apply is in March prior to the school year that your child is seeking admission. (Example: Apply in March 2006 for a student entering Kindergarten in Fall of 2006-2007.

Is there a dress code or uniforms?
All students grades K-12 wear uniforms.

Do the students have Bible classes and/or chapel services?
All students K-12 are instructed according to a specific Bible curriculum in biblical application and principles. Elementary students attend a weekly chapel service, middle school and high school students attend chapel every other week.

Does the school participate in mission or service projects?
Students participate in a variety of projects throughout the year.

Is there bus service available?
No bus services are available at the present time.

Is there an after school program?
An after school care is provided until 5:00 P.M. for an additional fee.

How old does a child have to be to enter Kindergarten?
Students must be five by July 1 of the year they will be attending Kindergarten.

Where is the Admissions Office located and hours of operation?
The Admissions Office is located at 1000 Academy Drive, New Albany, IN. Hours of operation are 8 a.m. - 3:30 p.m. Hours vary during the summer months. Applications for admission can be picked up and dropped off at this location.

What is the school's affiliation with the Christian Academy School System?
Northside Christian Academy joined the school system in 2000. Graceland Christian School became a part of the Christian Academy of School system in 2003. The two Indiana campuses combined to form Christian Academy of Indiana in 2005.

How large is the Christian Academy School System?
Currently, the Christian Academy of Louisville School System consists of four campuses, three in Kentucky and one in Southern Indiana. There are over 3,000 students in grades preschool - 12.

Is the school accredited?
Christian Academy of Indiana-s is accredited by the state of Indiana. The Northside campus is accredited by the Association of Christian Schools International.
