Academic Overview
Leadership
The English Station Middle School Program is under the guidance of Principal Maribeth Thomas and Assistant Principal Gary Mounce.  There are 489 students, 33 teachers, and six staff members in the middle school. All faculty are degreed and certified professionals. More than half of all teachers hold masters degrees or above. The average class size for middle school is 21:1.

Curriculum
The CAL curriculum provides an academic environment where middle school students are taught to think, learn and live as Christians. All programs are designed to develop and challenge the unique commitment to a traditional academic curriculum that stresses, among other things, reading, writing, science and math proficiency. Instruction is also provided for students in music, art, drama, technology, foreign language, and physical education. The Discovery program and Learning Lab is also available for students with specific learning differences.

Christian Education
Daily Bible classes and weekly chapel programs are offered to promote wholesome attitudes and mature Christian behavior, as well as, develop a Christian worldview and a love for the Lord Jesus Christ. Service projects are coordinated through the homerooms, Junior Beta Club, and the Student Advisory Committee. Students are encouraged to serve others in the community and the world with their time, talents and treasures.

Achievements
The Stanford Achievement Test is the nations oldest, and most widely recognized national standardized test. Students in grades 6-8 typically score at or above the 78th percentile of all students taking the test nationally (50th percentile is the national average).

In addition, students consistently qualify for the Duke Talent Identification Program. Last year 54 seventh grade students took either the SAT or the ACT. Of those, one student received a national award and an additional 20 students received state awards.
