Fine Arts Achievements (Spring 2008)
Congratulations to Lauren French, Olivia Martin and Rebecca Rafla who recently performed at the district solo and ensemble contest at the University of Louisville. Not only did these sophomore ladies receive one’s on their outstanding performances, but they were also recommended to proceed to the state level of competition. This is even more exciting since this is the first ever State Solo and Ensemble Contest in KY. (Olivia was not available for the photo.)
Congratulations to Rebecca Rafla who recently made Christian Academy of Louisville history with her acceptance to the 2008 KMEA All State Choir. Rebecca is the first vocal student from Christian Academy to earn this honor. Rebecca was also selected to be one of the featured soloists for the concert, which was performed at the Kentucky Center for the Arts on Friday evening, February 8.
Congratulations to Andrew Witten for being selected into the 2008 All-State Orchestra. Andrew earned 3 rd chair in the top strings groups, the Symphonic Orchestra. On Sunday, February 9, The All-State Symphony Orchestra gave an incredible performance of Night on Bald Mountain and Hanson’s Symphony No. 2. Andrew is a string bass player in the CAL Orchestra, in the CAL Concert Band, and he also plays baritone in the CAL Marching Band.
Congratulations to Emma Scott, first chair violinist in the CAL Orchestra, for being recommended to the first ever KMEA State Solo and Ensemble Festival. Emma was recommended to state for her performance of Borouski’s Adoration. The festival will be held at Eastern Kentucky University in May. |
