Teacher Spotlights
Jessica Stewart
Jessica Stewart is so excited to be a part of what God is doing at CAI this school year! She is the new Choir Master for middle and high school. She has a Bachelor’s Degree in Music Education from Missouri Baptist University and has been teaching for 9 years. She is originally from St. Louis, so she is an unapologetic Cardinals fan. She and her husband, Shane, have been married for 6 years and have a 14 month old son, Jonathan. She is active in the worship and children’s ministries at her church and in her spare time enjoys reading, cooking, running and spending time with her family. Caleb Stewart
Mr. Caleb Stewart, a CAI graduate, rejoined the Christian Academy family as our new biology and earth/space teacher! Mr. Stewart obtained his BS in biology from Oral Roberts University this past spring. He worked as a tumbling coach for Oklahoma Extreme Tumbling before beginning his first year of teaching here at CAI. He is a Cincinnati Reds fan, loves watching the History Channel, and enjoys reading a good non-fiction book. Cristine Powell
Mrs. Cristine Powell joined the Christian Academy family as a new Junior Academy teacher. Mrs. Powell was born in Portugal and grew up in Bloomington, IN, where she received her bachelor’s degree in Social Work from Indiana University. She has been married for 12 years and has one child, Hannah, who is in third grade at CAI. For the past nine years, she has had the amazing privilege to be a stay-at-home mom while volunteering at CAI, serving in the PTO, and substitute teaching in Junior Academy. Mrs. Powell and her family are members at Graceland Baptist church where she serves in the Awana and preschool programs. She accepted Christ at the age of 10 and lives to serve Him. Devin Didier
Mr. Devin Didier has joined the Christian Academy of Indiana team as our new band director! Mr. Didier and his wife, Carrie, have four children. He is the music minister at First Baptist Church in Charlestown and is a graduate of Southwest Baptist University with a degree in music education. He is an experienced bandmaster who has worked with elementary, middle, and high school musicians. Under his leadership those bands grew in membership and musicianship. Sonya Moffett
Sonya Moffett joined the Christian Academy family as our new upper school computer teacher. Mrs. Moffett graduated from college with a Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science and Mathematics and is currently working on a Masters degree in Education. She has been in the corporate world for 20 years creating and modifying user software for accounting, customer service, and distribution departments. Mrs. Moffett has been married to a wonderful man, Robert, for over 20 years and they have two beautiful daughters, Brittany and Ashley. For the past 5 years, Mrs. Moffett has volunteered and substituted in the elementary school at CAI. Her hobbies include her family, Coca-Cola memorabilia, cooking, and gardening. Shaelyne Meadows
Shaelyne Meadows joined the Christian Academy family as our new upper school art and photography teacher. She obtained her BS degree in K-12 Art Education from Southeast Missouri State University. Mrs. Meadows recently moved to Louisville from Cape Girardeau, Missouri so that her husband can attend Southern Seminary. Mrs. Meadow’s hobbies include painting, drawing, jewelry making, and cooking. Angela Ivey
Angela Ivey moved to Georgetown, Indiana from Richmond, Kentucky at the start of this school year. She is a graduate from Eastern Kentucky University. She has a Bachelor of Science in mathematics with a minor in physics and a Master of Arts in Education with 30 additional graduate credit hours in statistics and mathematics. While working on her master’s degree at EKU, Mrs. Ivey was a graduate assistant and a part time instructor for the mathematics department. After graduation she taught high school classes in the public school system in Kentucky for four years before arriving here at Christian Academy of Indiana. Mrs. Ivey loves helping students become successful in mathematics and is available for after school tutoring Tuesday – Friday. Mr. Joshua Hutchinson
Joshua Hutchinson comes to Christian Academy from the greater Washington, D.C. area. He attended, graduated from, and then returned to work as a teacher and coach at Montrose Christian School in Rockville, MD. Montrose is nationally known for its boys’ basketball program which has produced several great college and professional players. Mr. Hutchinson received his bachelor’s degree from Messiah College. He also began a graduate program at Towson University before moving to Indiana. He will serve as the head coach of boys basketball and teach 9 th and 10 th grade English along with 8 th grade Bible. Mrs. Justine Hahn
Mrs. Justine Hahn is a new full day Junior Academy preschool teacher. She has been married for 13 years to Matt Hahn, General Manager of the new Christian Radio Station, 104.3 WAYFM. Moving from Ohio to start the radio station was a big step of faith for their family, but God is so faithful! They have 3 children who are students here at CAI; Jana and Joy are in 3rd grade and Josh is in 1st grade. Mrs. Hahn graduated from Liberty University in 1997. After teaching preschool for two years, the Lord allowed her the privilege of staying home with their children for eight years. Prior to moving to Indiana, she taught Kindergarten for two years at Mansfield Christian School in Mansfield, OH.
Mrs. Hahn loves music, singing, scrapbooking, reading Karen Kingsbury books, and any activity that involves her family. Mrs. Jenny Bilkey
Have you noticed a new face at the upper school front desk? Jenny Bilkey, a substitute teacher here at CAI, now works at the front desk on Tuesdays and Thursdays. Mrs. Bilkey has a sociology and social work degree from Asbury College. She has worked in respite care for emotionally and developmentally disabled children in Kalamazoo while getting her MSW from Western Michigan University. Working as a mental health therapist in the Jefferson County Public Schools brought her to Louisville. She is married to Tim and has two children, Nathan who is a 5th grader, and Lindsey who is a 2nd grader at CAI. Mrs. Bilkey has a heart for helping and encouraging others to see themselves the way God does. |
Mr. Brian Dewey
Mr. Brian Dewey joined the Christian Academy family after serving as a Bible teacher and cross country and track coach in Virginia. He has a Biblical Studies degree from Bethel College. Mr. Dewey is married with two children and loves playing board games, running, ping pong, and is a big fan of the Patriots! Mr. Ernesto Blanco
Mr. Ernesto Blanco joins the Christian Academy family after a busy summer of getting married, moving across the country from Arizona, and starting school at the Southern Baptist Theological Seminary. Mr. Blanco graduated from the University of Arizona in 2007 with a Bachelor’s Degree in Physical Education. When not at school, Mr. Blanco enjoys studying theology, playing sports, and going on dates with his wife. Mr. Blanco teaches upper school physical education. Welcome, Mr. Blanco! |
Dr. Phil C. Ellis
Dr. Phil C. Ellis came to Christian Academy of Indiana after serving as a pastor in Baptist churches since 1990. He has a Bachelor of Art degree in secondary education with an emphasis in English and a Master of Divinity and a Doctorate of Ministry from the Southern Baptist Theological Seminary. He has been married to his wife, Lynne for 25 years. He has a passion for teaching communication skills and for shaping the minds, hearts, and faith of young people.
