Teacher Requirements
Thank you for your interest in Christian Academy of Louisville Schools. Our school system has more than 3,000 students in preschool through 12th grade on four campuses.

·  Each of our schools is accredited by regional agencies that determine some of the qualification requirements for our teachers. All teachers are required to have a Bachelor’s degree, they must be certified or qualified to pursue certification at the time of hire and previous teaching experience is preferred.

·  It is true that in some cases middle school and high school teachers are not required to be certified at the time of employment if we can identify other qualifying factors in their transcripts and resumes. We evaluate transcripts to determine if the applicant has successfully completed at least 24 semester hours in the subject to be taught for a major part of the day and at least 12 semester hours in professional education coursework. The completion of student teaching is certainly desirable. Although we may hire a teacher who meets these minimal criteria, we require all teachers to pursue and maintain active certification after being hired as a condition of continuing employment.

·  Another qualifying factor for employment at any position is an evangelical Christian biblical worldview. The mission of our schools is to provide high quality academics in a Christ-centered environment. Therefore, the Christian testimony of our employees is crucial.
