Methods
of Giving
Cash – Gifts of cash are the most common form of support.
Securities – Securities may be
transferred directly to Christian Academy by your broker. Have your broker contact
Mike Batuello, Director of Development, at (502) 244-3225 for specific instructions.
Unendorsed stock certificates can be dropped off or mailed directly to the Development
Office by registered mail with a letter stating the purpose of the gift. A separate
stock power will then be mailed to you and should be signed and returned immediately.
This method provides additional security for a gift of securities.
Gifts in Memory or to Honor – Each
year Christian Academy receives many gifts in memory of or to honor classmates,
parents, teachers, students and friends. When memorial or honoring gifts are
received, the Development Office notifies the family. In some instances, special
funds are established which may become endowed funds.
Double the Impact of Your Gift
Corporate Matching Gifts
Many corporations offer matching gift programs for employees and their families.
Most programs match on a dollar per dollar basis. Please check with your personnel
office for the appropriate form.
Christian Academy Family of Schools
In addition to choosing what fund you would like to designate your donation toward,
you also have the opportunity to choose at which campus you would like to apply
your contribution. You may donate to any of the campuses listed or the Christian
Academy Family of Schools. Gifts to the Family of Schools will allow the Executive
Director and Administration to determine at which campus your gift will have
the largest impact. Any contribution without a designated campus will automatically
be recorded as a gift to the Family of Schools.
Other Giving
If God leads you to give to another area of a Christian Academy school not listed
specifically, please call the development office so we may discuss further. Examples
of gifts of this nature would be for specific items you may want purchased for
athletics, the chapel program, library, technology, etc.
Parent Group Fundraisers
The PTO for each Christian Academy campus and the Athletic Council oversee fundraising
events throughout the year. This would include events such as walk-a-thons, Christmas
gift wrap sales, Christmas at Cal, golf outings and proceeds from Kroger, Meijer
and Winn-Dixie certificates. For more information about these fundraisers, go
to Parent Organizations and Athletics.
Planned Giving
Where a gift to the annual fund makes an immediate financial impact upon the
school, a gift from your estate would assist in the long-term outlook for Christian
Academy. Normally, a gift from your estate would be added to the School’s
endowment and would ensure that there will be a financially strong and academically
excellent Christian Academy for many generations to come.
Bequest
Bequests are very important to Christian Academy’s future. They turn hopes
and plans into reality. The School has already benefited from the great generosity
of past donors who made Christian Academy part of their estate plans. We encourage
everyone to have an up-to-date will, and we hope you will consider Christian
Academy as one of the beneficiaries.
Life Income Gifts
If you are interested in making a gift to Christian Academy and receiving annual
income, you should consider establishing a charitable remainder trust. Trusts
can provide you and/or a loved one with a guaranteed income for life as well
as a charitable tax deduction.
Life Insurance
Should you have a life insurance policy that has outlived its original purposes,
you might want to consider putting the money to work for Christian Academy. You
can amend an existing policy so that the School is the beneficiary; or transfer
a policy on which you have paid some of the premiums, claiming an income tax
deduction on the present value of the policy.
Real Estate
In gifting real estate, there are several options that can be considered. An
outright gift of a home, farm, vacation property or land avoids capital gains
taxes and permits the donor to take a tax deduction for the full value of the
gift. Another option is to gift the property while retaining the use of it for
the donor’s lifetime. This arrangement is known as retained life estate
and is usually more suitable for an older donor.
For more information on a gift from your estate, please contact the Development
Office directly.
