What grades do you now have, and what are the future plans for adding grades?
For the 2006-2007 school year we have preschool - grade 8. We plan to add one grade each year.

How many Christian Academy of Louisville campuses are there and how are they related?
Currently, the Christian Academy of Louisville School System consists of four campuses, three in Kentucky and one in Southern Indiana. The number of students in K-12 is over 3000.

Is Christian Academy of Louisville Southwest accredited?
CAL-SW is accredited by the Association of Christian Schools International, the Southern Association of Colleges and Schools, and by the state of Kentucky.

Are your teachers certified?
All of our teachers are state certified.

How old does a child have to be to enter Kindergarten?
Students must be five by October 1 of the year they will be attending kindergarten.

When can I apply?
Applications are accepted throughout the year. However, the best time to apply is in March a year and a half prior to the school year that your child is seeking admission.

Is an entrance test required? If so, what does it assess?
All students seeking admission much take an admissions test. Grades 2-6 take the Stanford Achievement Test that evaluates students in the areas of reading and math. The test takes approximately two hours. Kindergarten and First Grade applicants take a developmental test to determine their readiness. The test takes thirty minutes.

What curriculum do you use?
Christian Academy of Louisville has developed its own unique curriculum. We use a variety of texts such as Biblical Choices, Scott Foresman, Harcourt Brace, ACSI, Shurley English etc.

Do students have Bible classes and/or chapel services?
All students are instructed according to a specific Bible curriculum in biblical application and principles. All students attend a weekly chapel service.

How much is tuition?
Tuition for the 2006-2007 school year is $4,150.00. It can be paid in a lump sum for a discount or it can be paid in monthly installments. Tuition breaks are available for more than one child. Financial assistance is available for those who qualify. Be sure to apply early.

Is tuition assistance available?
Financial assistance is available to qualified families. To apply for financial assistance, the student must be an accepted student - meaning that all paperwork and fees are complete and that the student has been accepted for the upcoming year. Awards of financial assistance are ranked by a third-party company.

Is church attendance required in order to be a student at CAL?
Families seeking admission to CAL must have a minister reference and a church affiliation. Students and at least one parent must attend church regularly.

Do you require uniforms?
Yes. Currently uniforms are purchased through Coffman's on 4951 Manslick Road or Parker on Hubbards Lane. See Student Handbook for details.

What is your class size?
Our goal is to have no more than 22 students per classroom in grades 1-6; and no more than 16 students per classroom in Kindergarten.

Are hot lunches available?
Hot lunches are delivered from local restaurants at a nominal cost, or students may bring their lunch.

Do you have a computer lab?
At the present time, we have 3 or 4 computers in each classroom. Due to space constraints, we do not have a traditional computer lab. We have a portable lab with a classroom set of laptop computers. The students in grades 3-5 are learning basic keyboarding and computer functions.

Do you have before and after school care?
Yes, onsite extended care is available. Students may arrive 45 minutes before school with no charge. After school care extends from 3:00-6:00 pm for a nominal fee.

What are the operational hours for CAL?
Class begins at 8:15 a.m. and ends at 3:00 p.m.

When can I get a tour of the facilities?
Call the school office (447-6500) to arrange for a tour most any time.
